What Is Embroidery Digitizing?

Embroidery digitizing is a process of converting any artwork, image, or picture into an embroidery stitch file which can be stitched out on a garment via an embroidery machine. Before any design can be stitched out on a garment that image, logo or design has to be digitized into a machine file which the machine can understand and run it. Digitizing is an amalgamation of both art and technology. Digitizing a logo is the most important task in this process

How is digitizing both an art and technology mix?

Technology as the files has to be converted into machine formats where information is organized into discrete units of data that are called bits, commonly known as stitches. This is a complete computerized process and various software are used for doing this process.

It is an art as the person using this software must have an understanding of how the design has to appear, how will it stitch out so that it comes out looking good and optimum usage of stitches is done, there are no unusual jumps in the stitching and so many things which only a person with a keen eye and interest in embroidery can do. Therefore embroidery digitizers must have the eye of the designer as well as the precision of a technical person for a successful outcome.

Embroidery digitizing is also known as embroidery punching service as well as machine embroidery. Embroidery punching is the old name of this service itself as in olden days in place of computer a tape with holes was used for making the design and this tape was input into the embroidery machines which converted this into stitches and the design was embroidered.
